Esther Afua Ocloo (née Nkulenu) (1919-2002) was a Ghanaian entrepreneur, pioneer in indigenous food processing, and a key figure in the development of the "Potent Potables" beverage.
She is renowned for her role in the women's%20empowerment movement, particularly in Africa.
Ocloo co-founded Women's World Banking in 1976, demonstrating her commitment to providing financial resources to women entrepreneurs. Her commitment to financial resources towards women also made her a champion of microfinance.
She started her entrepreneurial journey at a young age selling marmalade made from oranges she bought with money gifted to her. She then progressively moved to other food products.
She received recognition for her contributions, including the Africa Prize for Leadership for the Sustainable End of Hunger in 1990.
Her life and work have served as an inspiration to many aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly women in developing countries.
